More than 1/3 of Canadian children cannot participate in sports or recreational activities due to financial barriers. A4K is working to change this throughout British Columbia, because in a positive environment of teamwork, competition and shared dreams, anything is possible.

Hockey Canada Assist Fund
The Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund is a $1 million fund that has been created to provide help to Canadians experiencing financial challenges as a result of COVID-19. The Assist Fund will provide up to $500 per player in registration fee subsidies to approved applicants who are registered with a Hockey Canada-sanctioned association, helping young Canadians get back on the ice in their communities.

Jumpstart
Jumpstart is more than just about getting kids active. It's about giving kids from families in financial need the same chance to participate as their neighbours, their classmates and their friends. Whether it's the chance to try a new sport or to continue with a favourite one, no kid should be left out.

Kid Sport
KidSport is a national not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance for registration fees and equipment to kids aged 18 and under. Through a confidential application process we provide grants so they can play a season of sport. Nationally, KidSport is comprised of a network of 11 provincial/territorial KidSport chapters and 166 community KidSport chapters. Since its creation in 1993, over 750,000 kids across the country have been given the chance to play sport through KidSport grants and sport introduction programming.

Lace'em Up Foundation for Kids
Our program helps financially disadvantaged children play hockey by ensuring kids have equal financial access to the game. Often times, Lace ‘Em Up funding starts where another organizations’ funding ends.
The Lace ‘Em Up funds are provided directly to your Minor Hockey Association who will ensure your outstanding registration fees are paid, and work with you and your sporting organization to determine other areas of need, and appropriate methods of disbursement.

PuCKS - Promoting Community Through Kids In Sports
The Promoting Community through Kids in Sport Program (PuCKS) is a registered charity that "Keeps kids in school using Sports as the Tool."
That is, PuCKS helps kids to stay (and succeed) in school by offering the incentive of team sports and 'big-buddy' relationships with university student mentors and athletes.
PuCKS works with marginalized kids ages 8 to18 who are financially in need and/or recently re-settled in Canada through its annual 10 month comprehensive program of:
a) Team Sports (soccer, hockey, and more)
b) Lit-Fit (after-school literacy and homework club)
